Hey Freddy,
I believe he's talking about the Dutch .
Sorry, it's a carryover joke from another Forum...
Yeah that was funny Mike!

Hey Freddy,
I believe he's talking about the Dutch .
Sorry, it's a carryover joke from another Forum...
In Switzerland, 1.4 ppO2 is not popular, even PADI divers use 1.6, because they find too restrictive. My neighbours from France and Germany also use 1.6 for dive in Swiss lakes.Tomeck,
Who are those 'Europeans'? It is such a broad concept. I was certified in the UK , lived there for 10 years, lived in the Netherlands and Germany (and some other places) for 17 years, dove all over the place. Never have I encountered 'those Europeans' who systematically dive beyond accepted limits of 1.4 PO2.
Again, who are those, I am seriously intrigued being a European myself
Yes, the internationale CMAS recommend 1.4, except in France, Fédération Française d'Études et de Sports Sous-Marins (FFESSM), a federation of CMAS, do not follow the recommendation. But many Europeans divers do not listen this recommendation of the agencies.Oh, I was under the impression that CMAS also had PPO2=1.4 for the working part and PPo2=1.6 for deco as a training standard. See attachment.
BSAC I believe also recommends this: USE OF 100% OXYGEN AND BSAC'S RECOMMENDATION FOR MAXIMUM PPO2. - BSAC
Now if you mean that a small group of people systematically go beyond their training standards, and you want to portray that as 'Europeans do it all the time', then pls do call it as such.
I am pretty much done with this since this is going nowhere.
I think in the Baltic Sea, they are very shallow and you don't need 1.6. On the other hand in the Mediterranean sea or in Swiss lakes, they are very deep and one needs 1.6.Hmmmm,
I am not quiet sure but I think I am also an "European" diver and I do a lot of wreck dives in the Baltic Sea with others. The majority of the technical divers around is using a max PPO2 of 1.4bar (sometimes 1.2 on longer dives) for the bottom mix and 1.6 for deco gas. We are also using EAN50 and oxygen for decompression. I guess it's just that we are trained to hover at 6m. So forget the crap about "those European divers".
BTW it's funny to watch the DSAT DVD after watching the 5th-D "Intro to Tech" DVD
Jm2p
Europeans divers like to use 80% for stop decompression on 6 meters, because they are afraid to go down accidentally with 100%.
DIR divers can use 100% because of their superior skills.
Yes, I have one of those, which allows me to scooter during deco at PPO's more than 1.6 because of my superior scooter-ing skills...Them and PADI specialty divers
