How many people have it?

Is it worth it? Has anybody gone on the events?

Mine is up for renewl, and the only reason I have gotten it in the past is for Sport Diver.

Does anybody use the coupon book?

thanks a lot

Sport Diver isn't all that bad, but it is biased towards PADI. Not that Scuba Diving magazine isn't biased either.

But I don't think that Sport Diver is worth the $26 or $29 (or whatever) cost per year that they want for it. I don't think that I know anyone who subscribes to it for that reason (the benifits aren't worth the costs).

Since I would most likely just pick it up on the news stand anyway, I figured that it's cheaper to just join... I at least got a (cheap) gear/junk bag with my renewal this year....

Dive Training is easy to pick up FREE at the one LDS (or at most of the dive shops when I've travelled)

I'm getting Scuba Diving free (thanks to someone's heads up last year) I may or may not re-subscribe, it's decent reading but...

I pick up Sport Diver some, but not very often. I like Dive Training and would prob subscribe to it if not for it being free at my LDS. They have Scuba Diving free there also, but in "shorter" supply. I've actually renewed it via EBAY. Got two years for $8.95. That's about 40 cents per issue, which is about what it's worth since I think they just publish a re-written version of the same stories or island over and over again. The gear reviews are about the same also.

How do you get it for free? (just curious).

If you wanta renew, do it via ebay. Do a search. I got mine from a magazine vendor named blueskymagazines. much cheaper.

Mike, can you PM me the details of hoe you got it so cheap, Im not a big fan but for the price..I cant pass it up.

It's hit or miss on the coupons but I've been lucky enough to save more than the cost of being a member for the past two years. $50 for a weeks worth (unlimited) nitrox fills at Fantasy Island Beach Resort was the latest deal I utilized.

I did a search on EBAY and found the vendor and magazine.
here is one that the bidding is over in about 1 day.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7132130794&rd=1

It looks like the bottom price as gone up to $9.99 for two years.
That's still pretty cheap.

It's from a vendor called Blue Sky Magazines. You can see all his
listings at the below URL. I don't know him but I've bought 3 or 4
subscriptions from him w/o problem. He has a 99.8% approval rating
over 13,000 reviews. So that speaks for itself that the magazine
will deliver.
Here is the URL for his site http://stores.ebay.com/Blue-Sky-Magazines_W0QQsspagenameZl2QQtZkm

FYI... Read the details and they say something like it could
take several weeks for your first magazine to arrive. Just FYI
as I think I got mine in about 4 or 5 weeks. It's not instant
but I think that's the publishers fault and not the vendor.

Hope that helps.

Not long ago someone posted free subscriptions from some "sample" website..there's a link for another one that they just moved (go out of this thread and look within the basic scuba discussions for the "moved" thread titled "Moved: Free Subscription to Scuba Diving Mag (1yr)" ) there's a link in there!
