What, no plastic cards! What am I going to use to open locked doors with? The world has gone to hell.

Easy to just DL the app when you need to show one's card or member number, uninstall the app, rinse and repeat as needed. Are they still spinning that plastic in the sea nonsense? Apparently all new divers immediately throw their cards into the sea.
Or is it to get everyone to use their (cr)app on their phone.
PADI isn't the only agency; many of us have a multitude of cards of which the PADI ones are the least useful. OK, until you want to do a shallow cattle-boat dive... It would be so useful if they'd provide an Apple Wallet compatible file for their certification cards.
Really not keen on this fashion for applications on phones as it seems so pointless as they're effectively just website front-ends -- but you cannot block the tracking or limit the bandwidth.
If my phone is dead can I still get on the boat?
Even an old Nokia?Anyone with a phone or the operator can look up your cert. With that said, I do carry a few key old fashion plastic cards in my save-a-dive kit. I’ve never had to use them since moving fully digital.
Even an old Nokia?
Apps; a blight on privacy
Looks like the old version of the appI have the app downloaded and when I open it this pic below is all I get as far as electronic e-cards go..... No specialties, no OW, AOW, Rescue, DM, no Enriched Air, etc.
I do have actual "photo's" of all of my certs saved to an album on my phone which is backed up to the cloud daily so I think that's really all I need and it's no additional cost to me...
I redacted my last name, QR code and diver number to protect the innocent........or guilty......depending on how you look at it!!!
Yes. You could call PADI and they will look up your certification for you. Free of charge!Even an old Nokia?
