I love the fact that you brought the word Luddite here from that other ridiculous thread 😂!
For me, it’s just curiosity. I keep them on my phone, but bringing a physical card is no big deal. I have to show it at any of the shops I’ve done boat trips with, GoWest, Capt Don’s, etc, but ain’t no thing.

Erik
The only time I bring physical cards is for cave diving in the FL state parks. You have to leave your cert card visible your dashboard.

Take a photo of any physical cards. Keep on phone. Done. Some people seem to discount this option and keep yapping about needing an app. You have the app already - phone app on your phone. If you’re too Luddite for that, make photocopies of your cards.

🤦‍♀️

No need to insult people! Yes, almost everyone gets the idea of keeping a photo/scan/PDF of your card(s) on your phone, in the cloud, in a dive log app, all of the above, etc. 90+% of everyone here gets that if not 100%.

The topic is PADI moving to ecards, how that appears to be working, the extent of availability, and how the app works. Somehow you seem to have missed the topic of the tread.

When I say show a card I mean at all, I have the pics but need those as rarely as a hard card, the app fits into todays world better, diving, it seems, is a repository for the Luddite .

And to that topic (and to their credit) PADI did respond promptly to my email. The rep indicated that, apparently at least in NA, eCards will only show in the app if you purchased them. When questioned as whether eCards will replace cert cards and be available in the app for everyone, the response was:

That is odd, because I am in Colorado and never purchased an e-card but have them as of the other day.

I'm glad I got all my plastic cards and did all my courses back in the stone age (2005-2011.....).
I do agree that apps and ecards fit better into today's world. Problem is I don't....

Stone age , really.
That's still this century.

Management bollocks straight from the mouth of Dilbert's boss.

PADI is clearly having issues with this app and their desire to monetize ecards. Now when I launch the app I have 3 of my certs appear as ecards that I can pull up, but all of the others are listed as "certifications with no ecards". The certs without ecards appear in my list but I can no longer pull up any of the details. It simply gives me an option to purchase the ecard or order a replacement card. No details show up. As recently as yesterday I could pull up all of the details for all of my certifications (which is as it should be). So the kudos I offered PADI were clearly offered prematurely. I should have known better.
They gave you a free preview with a tease :)
