That's what NASA thought on Jan. 26, 1967. Then Apollo 1 and the 3 astronauts on board got incinerated in a flash fire.Oxygen is one the safest and beneficial gases in use. The old and people with lung disease use oxygen on a daily basis with no problems. But the minute you mention oxygen to divers they get their nickers in a twist.
Life on earth has not evolved to deal with elevated oxygen levels, as they are not something encountered in nature. That's why people worry about pulmonary and CNS oxygen toxicity.
Material behavior in high oxygen concentrations, particularly under high pressure, can be very different than it is in air.
It's your life, so do what you want. But realize that pretending that risks do not exist does not mean that they don't exist.
