To help us wrap our brains around the capacity of modern regulators, here is a quote from the Mares website, regarding their old workhorse MR-22 first stage:
"...Abyss gained its reputation for reliability by setting many diving records, such as the deep solo-dive to -313m and 101 divers breathing simultaneously for 40min from a single MR22 first stage... "
I believe the depth was something like 20-30 feet (maybe less?), and I've lost the link to a 2nd test that Mares conducted with fewer divers but deeper depth, all breathing from a single MR-22 first stage.
Sure, it was a publicity stunt, and all divers were resting.... but still... the point is a properly-functioning regulator will be darned hard to overbreath in a recreational setting.
