Corigan:I would hope a majority of the public would be smart enough to realize our armed forces and private citizens that are fighting for our freedom are not a bunch of bafoons. I thought some of the scenarios were quite comical, because it was so obvious those scenarios would never occur.
Matt
Matt you seem like an intelligent guy. However not everyone in life is as intelligent as you and I. There are people that think all this Hollywood BS is straight up.
I remember as a 17 year old I enlisted in the NZ Army as it was something that I had aspired to do all my life.
I lost a lot of my so-called-friends because they all thought that I wanted to be a "Baby-killer" or some crap like that. I mean I was fresh out of basic training and I was a "Baby-Killer"? ***? This was stupidity at its utmost! The reality is they didnt have a clue because they took all the crap Hollywood films they had seen as gospel.
I mean have you ever tried to fire two AK's on full auto with one hand and have even one round land on the target? PAH!
If you look back at media coverage in the first few wars of last century they hardly ever focused on the negatives. Even all the "war" movies made afterward focused on the positives and reassuring the Men on the Ground and the family back home.
Look at media coverage of the war in SE Asia and they all focused on things like My Lai and William Calley. It was a small part of what happened but had a huge part of the media coverage. Why? Because it sold and it made money. So basically they wanted to screw the men on the ground to make money.
Nothing has changed. Thats why Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen get pissed off at Hollywood BS. Well I do anyway...
