Was spoiled after a week of diving in Bonaire where nitrox is the same price as air. Booking a last minute trip to Caymans and some of the fees shops charge for nitrox seems crazy to me. What do people think is a reasonable fee to pay? Do you try to negotiate when they try to charge $15-25 extra for 2 tanks?
Free nitrox is nice when offered. If not, I inquire about a set price for the trip or a discount for the number of dives I intend to do. Seems like I generally pay $5-8 per tank, occasionally a bit more.

I do try to negotiate. Here in AZ, I think its expensive because folks still don't dive it a lot. I think its not used that much because its expensive. A self-perpetuating circle.
I pay no more than 6$ or $7 per tank and only use it when I would otherwise be sacrificing bottom time. Of course, when it is free I enjoy it every dive.
Cost is going to be entirely dependent on production/shipping at the location. A reasonable cost in mainland USA may not be reflected in a more remote location.
There's also an issue of cost versus demand - whether high volume turn-over allows a cost reduction.
The method of blending also plays a role in pricing.
The Aggressor Fleet charges $100 for unlimited nitrox, so $4 to $5 a tank. They try to get all the divers to opt in to simplify their filling procedures.
I don't know if it is outrageous, but I just paid $10/tank upgrade fee in the Keys. I try to always dive Nitrox, my son is more selective on where he uses it. I used 14 tanks to his five, but it really adds up.
It would be interesting to know the cost involved, especially if the operator banks a specific mix.
Diving is more expensive in Grand Cayman than Bon. Some GC ops do have nitrox packages that will reduce the cost slightly. You will just have to decide whether it is worth the extra money for nitrox based upon the diving you are planning on doing.

I believe we all agree Free Nitrox is a strong selling point. On the Siren vessels, they offer Free Nitrox. I believe it makes a statement about diver safety.
We always include nitrox on our group trips. Sometimes we have to negotiate to get it free.
