Does anyone remember Matell's Greenie Stickem Caps? They came with a six shooter that loaded spring tensioned bullets that actually fired from the gun! The caps were applied to the primer area of the shell for sound effect. That was one great toy! Looking back all of my friends, myself as well, should be blind.

Those were the days. Next...automobile dashboards of the 50's! :D

The original was a large plastic dart with a metal point that you throw up in the air and try to get it to land in a plastic ring placed on the lawn some distance away. Then they decided to make them with a weighted plastic point. Then they stopped making them. I remember them under the Christmas tree for my older brother the same year that I didn't get an anchor.....

We didn't have to wear helomets when we rode our bikes or seatbelts in the car! What dare devils we were by todays standards I still have my USD Calypso J reg with a Nemrod SPG.

Gary D.:
Where and when do we do it and to who?

You know, by todays standards, we should have not survived our first dives let alone this long.

Gary D.

By today's standards, none of us should have survived our first excursion to the local playground!

BB GUNS, SLING SHOTS, BOOMERANGS, ROPE, SCOUT KNIVES,

M80'S, AND PNEUMATIC WATER ROCKETS.

This was all mandatory tree house inventory. Ops...forgot strike anywhere matches!

When does something go from being old to an antique?

Lawn dart- Continental Airlines smalllest commuter plane

2004 version of a double hose reg/-we call it a rebreather

Buddy Breathing-I stopped teaching it because stats indicated divers couldn't do it and the "octo" was a better choice
If you don't carry a spare air source I would suggest you look around the boat and decide who you might want to try to teach buddy breathing to, U/W, while they think they're drowning. OR if you see someone swimming towards you in a profound hurry, GO DOWN, it's a safe bet they'll go up.

usually my wife is by buddy ...... any one esle if they start to panic will see I carry a very large "BUCK" knife . I have often been quoted " I haven't seen a regulartor hose yet my "BUCK" knife can't cut ..

I have been diving for over 35 years now. A lot of changes have taken place most for the better of the sport. Scuba companies have come and gone (Sportways, White Stag, Nemrod, Healthways, Voit) and now many of our old stanbys (USD, DACOR) have stated they are no longer makeing parts for their older units. Recently I was question why I didn't have an oct. on by rig ..... later a fellow diver told me he just completed a course and he wasn't shown how to buddy breath with just one 2nd stage because everyone was now required to have a oct. on their regulator (?). God help the divemaster if I ever show up with my Dacor double hose, J valve tank and co2 vest ..... he would have a heart attack.

I guess it depends on what boat you are diving from, if its mine, no problem. I go out lots of times when I have a day off from being an instructor/dive guide, and dive my vintage dive gear.
As for buddy breathing, well, it has gone from being taught optionally, to being mentioned barely.
Good diving, and hope to see you in the Sea Hunt Era Forum here.
