This could get interesting. We're heading to Bonaire this weekend.

A: I hope we can get out of Houston in front of the storm Friday night. It's forcasting rain Friday night and Heavy Rain/Wind on Saturday.

B. Bonaire is forcasting rain every day next week.

Make sure it is the Kralendijk weather you are looking at. I'm seeing showers and scattered showers and 91 or so. With little soil runoff is hardly a threat to visibility. You may find relief in many of the showers.

As for Houston, I duno.

Pete.

Yeah . .it was Kralendijk. I saw that someone made that mistake here a week or so ago . . didn't want to repeat.
At the end of the day I figure the viz will never be remotely as bad as my local haunts here in San Antonio and 91 will be a relief from the local heat. Though I could do without the bugs it will likely bring.

Let's just hope we can get out of Houston.

Good luck getting out of Houston! As for Bonaire vis., we had a horrible day last March. The wind shifted to an odd direction, coming pretty much from the north. This created substantial swells that arriving from the northwest, rolling in between Klein Bonaire and the main island. We were at Sand Dollar and it received direct hits. Vis. was down to less than a foot within 50-80 ft of the shore, and water was very cloudy everywhere. We dove the Hooker site that day (did the inner reef, not the wreck). Vis. was probably 20-30 ft. Lasted one day and things were back to normal.

me too... We're heading ny-atl-bon saturday... I'm stressing over the tight connection in Atlanta. At least they should not have any ike impact! And weather.com does make it look lke it could be an interesting weather week down there.

But I am sure you and everybody else will agree, "A bad day in Bonaire diving with limited visibility is still better than a good day at work"

We are off on October 11/12 so I am sure all of the storms will be past. Otherwise, well we will be in Bonaire. My second trip and her first. We (especially me) cannot wait.

Bottom line is, best of luck. I hope you make it out and have a great week of diving.

Not sure why this is but the we've found the weather forcasts for Bonaire to be useless. Always over estimated rain and mentions thunderstorms. I've never seen a thunderstorm on Bonaire. Rain for the most part very infrequent. Never seen a rainy day, a shower yes. Been there 6 or 7 times in last 8 years two weeks at a time.

just got back this week. Lots of eagle rays!!!!!!!15 great dives

And the Eagle ray pictures are where????

I've never seen a thunderstorm on Bonaire.

Nine trips, thunder and lightening one trip. Didn't effect the diving for long though :-) I also agree with most, a bad vis day on Bonaire is better than any day at work :-)

Fingers crossed all those leaving Saturday make it. I have one friend who lives near Corpus Christi, flying out of Houston Saturday, he's cancelled his plans :-(
