Have fun in Bonaire. I'm jealous. I wish I was going back....there were a few dive sites I wanted to hit the last time, but we got shorted one day of diving. No regrets, though. Just gives me another reason (as if I need one) to head back next year.

Man, I have thought about you flying out all week. I keep looking at the noaa website tracking Ike and it's 5 day forecast. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya bro, I don't leave for Bonaire for another 4 weeks (yes, getting really impatient to go!) but still wouldn't want this to be happening to me. Good luck, I'll look for a (hopefully) great trip report when you get back....

Continental has canceled tomorrow night's flight from Houston to Bonaire. IAH is closing at noon tomorrow.

Yep, saw that about two hours ago and was able to get on line and reroute for a Saturday flight out of Newark. We'll lose a day of diving but hey . . . .we'll be diving.

I'm glad you're going to be able to get to Bonaire. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Great news! Enjoy!

A friend of mine who posts here, Flatliner, is just finishing up a week in Bonaire. Scheduled to come home tomorrow on Continental, but that' not looking so good right now. They've spent some time trying to find an alternate home, but have had no luck. He's a bit stressed, and while I'm sure he'd love another week on Bonaire, it's not the ideal.

Any tips or recommendations I can pass onto him?

DVRLIZ1 would be a great person to talk to. Even if she has no rooms available at the Golden Reef Inn I am sure she would recommend some good people for your friend to contact.

Yeah, tell him to look up Happy Holiday Homes, see if he can hook up with other "strandeds" to share the bungalow with, and enjoy the diving. Things could be worse. :eyebrow:

Well, we made it down here early Sunday morning and we are having a blast. I'm a little bummed we missed out on a day but hey, we're getting old. I imagine by the end of the trip we're going to be all dived out. I'll post of full report when we get home. Favorite sites so far have been Angel City and Karpata. We're diving Invisibles this afternoon and the Hilma Hooker tomorrow morning. We hung out with a 60-70 lb Goliath Grouper at our safety stop just at dusk yesterday. I'm told they're pretty rare down here. My thoughts are with my friends in Houston . . you guys hang in there.
