I had the pleasure of joining the JUE gang on a weekend trip to Oshima Island last weekend (aug 25-27)

we had brilliant weather, and fantastic diving (I got 10 dives in!!!)
The fish and coral were great -- including sharks, frog fish, sea horses, lots of nudis, a jaw fish, some gobies, dozens of parrot fishes. and tons of fish that I don't have a clue what they they are called :D

I can hardly wait for another trip to the islands.

I uploaded a few pictures in my gallery:

Hi Murray, thanks for sharing the nice pics.

Please let me know functional information of your camera.

Hi Nori,

I use a Canon A640 and Canon case. Thats it. The macro is pretty good but the wide angle is a bit limited. Someday I would like to get an external flash !

Great shots Murray and happy to hear you liked the trip! Next trip you can borrow one of my Ikelite DS200s if you can rig it on your camera :D and if I can post your pics on the JUE website. Toshima is full and there is only one space left on the Miyakejima trip. http://www.jue.jp/en/node/996 We may squeeze in something more this autumn.

Oops. Miyakejima full (may be able to squeeze you in..)

There are still space on the Hachijojima trip!

Nice pictures Mr King!

I love Oshima - did you dive Akinohabara much? I think that is the correct name, it's the place you drive down a steep hill, and there is a concrete jetty type thing with a metal ladder on each side to clamber back up.

That is my favourite site in Izu, the shallow start and can get deep quickly and see the soft corals and lots of fish a few minutes into the dive.

Yes Geoff,

We did most of the dives from Akinohama and a few on the other side at nodanohama. we tried to do one at onohama but diving isnt allowed after aug 22st. We also did 2 boat dives one at akinohama and one about 10-15 minutes south of akinohama. Fantastic stuff !!!
