Check out this letter to the paper from this "interesting Floridian" on an alternate plan to sinking the USS Oriskany. The URL is also below if you want to read other "quack" suggestions from Floridians (not related to Oriskany). It's amazing the though processof some of these folks...

Notes from hell, Volume No. 60:
The first letter comes from a Boca Raton man who saw the sinking of the USS Oriskany, a decommissioned aircraft carrier, as a complete waste. Rather than turning old ships into offshore artificial reefs, he argued, we should be using aircraft carriers as "big truck ferries" to alleviate the commercial traffic on Interstate 95.
Don't you just love the "diversity" of Florida ?

"I estimate that a carrier could travel the 300 miles from Jacksonville to Miami in about 10 to 12 hours. Overnight, that means the truck drivers could sleep while their trucks cruise on the trip.... Approximately 17 big rigs end to end parked four across equals 68 big rigs.
