Not necessarily - at least not when looking for a hotel/car deal.... you can enter your info in the Quick Search. Once your list of hotel/car choices appear, click on the 'I have a promo code' thats at the top left. Enter the code and click the 'refresh result' button. You should get this message: "Congratulations! Your promo code has been accepted. For eligible properties, your discount will be applied in the payment process." From there click on the car column of the hotel you want to look at. It will take you to the package and show that the $200 Orbitz discount was applied and the lower per night cost. If you want to look at another option on the list, just click the 'back to results' that's near the top right. You can click back and forth through as many of the hotel/car choices as you want without having to reenter the Orbitz code.

Just tried it and you are correct. I had not seen that option before.

Air+car or air+car+ hotel will not have a $25 cancellation fee. It will be $25 + the airline cancellation fee. Hotel+car has a $25 cancellation fee, and that has a time limit. Orbitz said at some point the trip will become no refundable, but she didn't know when. At some point Wyndham will "turn it in" and then it is non refundable. Thats Wyndham's policy other hotels may have a different cancellation policy.

That's correct. That's why I haven't booked my airfare through Orbitz. Of course if the deal was good enough, I'd book airfare & hotel and just be happy with the deal.

As for hotels, I specifically book places that don't have an immediate cancellation policy - like Fiesta Americana or Casa del Mar, so I don't get stuck if I want to rebook when the price drops. Any Orbitz rep can call the hotel for you and check on the cancellation policy for a specific hotel. And they should be able to tell you exactly what that is. Sounds like the rep you spoke to didn't feel like checking.

Hey Don ... thanks for posting all the screen shots!! I'm sure it helps when people can see exactly what I was talking about! :D

Haha glad to. Some would say I overdo that, but I think it does help to get a focused view at times. I know that I am visually oriented, but miss a lot of details. CTRL+F for finding words can help sometimes, but it just helps to know the look of what you're looking for sometimes.

I could have used more thumbnails, but jumping back and forth between text and pics and be confusing at times. I have suggested "use Right-click & and open in new tab" at times, but frankly - I know some folks are not even up to that, and I try to be easy on the computer newbiews. Gawd, when I joined Scubaboard, someone here had to tell me how to copy & paste. :silly:

One of my pics did strech the width a bit but I wanted to make sure it was easy for my generation to see, so slide the page over so it shows but the ad on the left doesn't. :D

Thank you for all of your input here...! :crafty:

I just re booked my January Orbits trip, for the third time. It started at $98 pr night. I thought thats not a bad price, it's close to the reef that will cut the boat time in half. Ill be diving four times a day so thats important to me. then the price dropped to $86 pr night, so i re booked. Right now the price is $65 a night, thats for ocean view, there not offering ocean front. But still a room, a car and all inclusive food for $65 a night that seems like a very good deal.
If i got a room in any of the hotels a half mile from my house it would be over $100 pr night, and thats with no car, no food, and no ocean!!

Gotta love Orbitz!!! I'm keeping an eye on my March trip ... last year the prices took a dive in January, so I'm hoping they do again and I can rebook!

I was hoping to go in February but my problem is with fares out of Lubbock. I really miss the $300 fares we enjoyed last summer. Using Sidestep.com options to check fares (a) on other search sites like Expedia, etc, (b) to check nearby airports for fares into Cancun in comparison, and (c) to check 3 days before and after selected dates gives a lot more answers and options...
Fly my preferred airline Continental to CZM for $622. :shocked2:

Vayama got me American Air going, Continental returning for my dates for $500 but I am leery of multiple airline tickets. :depressed: 7 hour layover in IAH too?

Continental could fly me in & out of Cancun for $400 which is kind of appealing.

Priceline suggested a Delta itinerary for $466 but it included an overnight somewhere. :shakehead: Gawd I hate those.
You folks who are getting the better fares are lucky. Don't know why Cont Air is charging so much out of Lubbock to CZM, but $60 less to Roatan for the same dates? I thot that might have been a reflection of the reduced travel with the recent mainland problems, but other parts of the country are not getting the same offers? :dontknow:

We did discover that in some instances that Continental will rebook a ticket with only a $50 fee if the fare drops enough, not the old $150 fee. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ge...redits-if-fares-go-down-after-purchasing.html Good to sign up for fare alerts even if you've already bought the ticket.

It wasn't very long ago when us air was re booking for $50. I paid $150 last month.
Roatan is where I want to go, but it's $700 from here. CUN is $350, CZM is $450, so its Coz this year for me. The way they price airfare, it makes no sense.

It takes time, but sometimes it pays to phone in for the online help desk, ask questions, etc.

Totally understand where you're coming from ... we've actually booked the next 3 trips to Coz due to airline prices we got -

Austin to Coz Nov 09 - American Airlines = $355.70
Austin to Coz March 10 - Continental = $288.53
Houston to Coz June 10 - Continental = $320.45

We looked at other places, but couldn't beat the fares to Coz when we booked. Now even the June flights seven months off have gone up $100 per ticket. I fear we've been spoiled with the low fares, and it's going to be hard to adjust back to higher ones.

And like Mark said, sometimes the pricing makes no sense. On occasion, we've found it the same price, or cheaper to fly Austin to Houston to Coz, rather than Houston to Coz. :shocked2:
