I read this earlier....and like all of us we are entitled to your oppions on different classes....this is one divers experience retold. The course has good information in it for a diver whom is just getting into 'deeper' diving....whether from shore or boat. Most of us whom are at the level in diving that we are doing deco diving probably during our course of study and class progression took such a course. Its a stepping stone whether it is a PADI or NAUI of SSI class....it is of good value.

Probably depends on the instructor... Awww poo here we go again :lotsalove:

The blind leading the lame.

Cool

Wow...how very witty...ummmm, I mean witless. Better stop working those few brain cells so hard, Jeffy. I can smell the smoke coming out of your ears all the way down here in civilization.

BTW, you sure have taken a bunch of TDI courses for someone so dead set against the agency...and so recently too. Proud enough of it to name the courses and your TDI instructors in your profile.

You'd think someone with your arrogant, elitist attitude would actually have a lot of tech experience under your belt, but you don't do you? Less than two years of trimix diving? You're just as full of crap as anyone I've seen comment on this board. All show and no go.:dork2:

I don't understand your point? Most of the guys who still dive deep air and still teach deep air are the old timers who don't see the light. Just because it was always done that way doesn't make it smart...

Besides, according to your own profile you are something of a card collector with "only" two years diving experience that is predisposed toward TDI (including deep air):
k-valve's profile:
Certification Agencies: SSI, SDI, TDI
Certification History: I have a handful of SSI cards - OW, Adv. Bouyancy, AOW, Stress & Rescue, Deep Diving, Nitrox; two TDI cards - Adv. Nitrox, Deco, and one from SDI...Solo Diver. Hope to earn my Extended Range and Trimix cards sometime this fall.
Certification Level: Advanced Open Water & some Technical
Dive History: Central Texas lakes, Key Largo, Playa del Carmen, Kauai, Flower Garden Banks
Dive Classification: Technical Diver
# of Logged Dives: 100 - 199
Years Certified: Two Years

TO: John_B & rjack321 & Steve R & Jay Roy (JR shows a few agencies only)........
Since your bio's like so many others does not show anything about your diving background..training...experience....agencies (except ole JR's ) maybe you could share that with us...at this stage were not sure you have a clue about scuba diving....I may be wrong.
But you know there are a lot of internet divers & toilet bowl divers here on SB....'please' validate your background and maybe your input could be considered worth reading in the future. IMO

;)

John

Let me see if I can type a little slower for you. My....point.....is....people....in....glass....houses....shouldn't....throw....stones.

I've never hidden the fact that I'm new to diving. You on the other hand have shared nothing. Are you even a certified diver...or just another big talker on this thread? I dive 15-20 times a month...most of them are beyond recreational limits. How 'bout you?

Unlike you and your cronies on this thread I am open to different ideas and opinions. Just because I can dive deep without getting narced out of my mind doesn't mean I don't believe there's a better way. In fact, I just signed up for my Extended Range/Trimix class today. Yes the TDI manual is lame, but once again I'll end up with a TDI cert because the instructor I trust is a TDI instructor. I have options here and I chose him because he is very good at what he does. I couldn't care less about the agency or book. It's the information and experience from the course that matters to me.

I don't collect cards...I collect learning and experience. The cards just come along with it. I'd rather take a class from a known entity/quality instructor than take the advice of some blow hard or wannabe diver on this board.

"Wouldn't the whole diving world be better off if every diver had a gas plan,

Hey, Alan, have you checked out the "gas plan" link in John_B's quote? That'll tell you something about him.

If I hadn't already checked it out myself I would of thought he was talking about flatulence...in which case the world would be a better place! :rofl3:

So, John, if I overfill my LP85s may I please dive deeper than eighty-five feet? You're killin' me here!! :rofl3:

Yeah, if you guys want to play the "how deep I've dived on air" or "how many cards I collected" or even "how many cards my agency makes me collect before I can dive helium", I can pretty much guarantee you'd win.

The only reason I brought up valve's profile was because he seems to have less experience (years, dives) than the people he claims aren't qualified. And then he has the audacity to talk about glass houses. :rofl3:

BTW, yes, having a gas plan is important to me. Its important that the people I dive with are on the same page when it comes to "rock bottom". All the air dives in the world don't make you a smart diver, you may realize that one day but I doubt it. Frankly dude, I find it hard to believe you are an elementary school principal. In Austin or wherever you consider the live music capital of the world. Maybe you could go replace whatever experience you don't have yet with more equipment???

John_B, know one asked you any of the 'questions' you made up here....you simply find it more comforting to side step the issue of your dive training level/experience....your bio still stands empty of facts. Your silence in this speaks volumes. The best you can muster is a quote from another SBer as your signature line. OK....BAILIFF!
