Like other said, avoid wing that is compromised between single and double. For "poor college student", it is even more important to get the right gear at one once, instead of buying something suboptimal, only to realize later. You have to re-buy the right gear. I would say just buy a good single wing for now. It is they best way to save money in long run. When you move to double, you are likely to spend a lot more than just another wing.
