I noticed that the Atomic Aquatics inflator hose that comes with the SS1 is longer than both the inflator hose and the corrugated hose that came with my Seaquest BCD. Everything installed fine, but during use, the longer Atomic inflator hose, in combination with the shorter corrugated hose, pulled the SS1 out of my mouth.

There didn't seem to be an easy way of lengthening the Seaquest corrugated hose (and internal dump wire), so I purchased a shorter (4 inches shorter) inflator hose with a Scubapro style quick disconnect. I also put an Aqualung Comfo-bite mouth piece on the SS1 for better grip. These seemed to do the trick and I can now use the SS1 more safely, without it being pulled out of my mouth. I've never had a free flow with the SS1 even with the Comfo-bite mouth piece.

I also found that adding an in-line signal device (Dive Alert) did not work for me because it made the setup inflexible and too cluttered. The Dive Alert would sometimes rotate in the way.

If I had to buy a replacement, I'd probably buy the SS1 again, but I'd also look at Sherwood's Gemini Octo/Inflator which has a similar design, excellent breathing scores, is less expensive, and comes with free parts for life.

I hope this information proves useful.
