Is a 7 foot hosethe recomended hose for open water diving (no wreck penetration) with a) doubles and b) singles? If not, what is the recommended size?

A 5 foot use to be recomended for open water but I belive that everyone recomends the 7 footer for consistancy now.

I use a 7' hose for all my diving and so does my buddy.

I used a 5' and it was too darn short. Got in the way of my backup light and stuff. I switched to a 7' and couldn't be happier.

Some folks prefer the 5' hose if they don't have a canister light to tuck it under. Personally, I use the 7' without one and it works fine.

Are there photos anywhere of hose routing? Although I am a new recreational diver (only 19 dives), I do like the idea of the longer hose with the bungee safe second. Would appreciate any photos if available.

Here you go, Charley:

I switched over to the long hose/bungied second and a backplate and wing about my 20th dive, and I've never looked back.
