Been looking seriously at going to the dark side. The simplicity of the one piece harness appeals to me, but I wonder will I have to keep adjusting it for different wetsuits. In the course of the season I switch between a 7mm and a 3mm suit depending on the conditions. Does a properly rigged onepiece have enough play to accomadate this?

Am I over analyzing?

No, it won't have enough play to swing from 3 to 7. You'll have to adjust it.

The adjustments are easy enough, just make sure to leave yourself with enough webbing coming out of the buckle so that you can move it back and forth without running to the end of the webbing.

I've also seen it suggested to mark your harness (paint pen) so you won't have to guess when adjusting back and forth.

I don't adjust mine at all and I switch between a 2mil, 7mil and drysuit all summer long.

was it my imagination, or did that say PB&W a moment ago? I was working on "Peanut Butter and ?" :)

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...

If you do switch, stop referring to it as "the dark side", it's just a piece of gear and it ain't "tech".

Or, you could do what I am going to do... get two BP's. A used Aluminum plate can be had for less than $50, an webbing is about $10. My purpose is to leave on setup for doubles, and the other for singles. After fooling with mine last night, I have no desire to keep adjusting that thing.

The difference between a 7mm and a 3mm is very small. You're talking about less than 1/4 inch of thickness. The only place this could POSSIBLY matter is in the shoulders and you're supposed to leave 2 fingers (about 2") of gap there anyway so I can't see the tolerance being a problem.
