Gang,

I have an old Sherwood 3100 that's probably 15 years old by now. I've been carrying it as a backup reg in my dive bag. Is it really worth the hassle anymore? Does anyone know if it can be serviced anymore?

Thanks!

-Charles

as far as i know nothing has changed in many years and any sherwood dealer should be able to service it,regs really dont wear out,but they do need servicing every once in awhile, mainly to replace the rubber parts,if you like them i would keep them and have them serviced.

Keep em as back-ups. Although I would pressurize them and check em every now and then, just to make sure they were still serviceable, and you weren't lugging around dead weight.

Sherwood regulators are bulletproof and very easily serviced. I have about a dozen of them that I bought used in 1995 that I still use for teaching. I would dive with them any day.

Hey gang!

Thanks for the input. I'll call my LDS tomorrow and see if they can service this dinosaur. Every time I head out on a dive, I put it on a tank and check to see if it works and it's never failed me. It's probably fine. I'll have it serviced anyway just to make sure.

Thanks again...

I've got a Sherwood Brut that I purchased in 1986. First and second stage are still in service on my pony bottle. They work great.

My brother has a Sherwood Maximus from 1994 that he still uses as his primary reg. Like bkooy1, I have a Brut that I bought in 1995 for a Pony bottle, and it is still my pony reg today.

i have 2 sets, both Sherwood oasis and hubby started using his old Brut for his bailout

*sniff* all these sherwood divers... i dont feel so alone anymore

:D

dinosaur! For something that is only 15 years old! You must be a young kid.

I do own several of this new plastic regulators, but the regulators that I actually dive are all over 30 years old. My preferred single hose or double hose regulators are all from the early 70's (or earlier).
