My son "inherited" my old circa-1985 Sherwood SRB 2100 Brut regulator, and loves it. He just completed his Advanced OW Course, and had it down to over 100 ft a couple times in the last two weeks. No problems that he could tell as far as breathability. (My wife used that same regulator for her AOW in 1986.)

We haven't had any problems getting it serviced. Sherwood service kits don't change much, if at all, over the years...

Nothing wrong with the old Sherwood, my old Magnum just spent a week in Bonaire. You have easy access to a very good repair shop. Al and the gang at Airtech (inside Gypsy) can easily service it for you.

Contrary to all of this bad advice, I advise you to chuck the sherwood immediately. PM me and I'll give you the address to chuck it to

No, No, send it to me, I'll chuck it for you. :D I'm closer than Reefguy, too.

The only thing to keep in mind is that several of the 2nd stage parts are beginning to get tougher to come by depending upon the model of regulator. When I was with Sherwood a few years back on the 3100 series the exhuast tee is one part I know we had difficulties getting.

Other 2nd stage models such as the Oasis and Maximus from that series era have several parts such as face plates, springs and purge buttons are no longer manufacturered. So long as the particular parts you need are the ones you need to replace that is a regulator that should last for ever with proper care. Enjoy!

Please send it to me!!!

My Brut that is newer than my 15+ year old Blzzard died. The main body cracked at teh thin section where the piston resides?!?!

So I will gladly [-]accept[/-] despose of your old (and better built) antiquated gear.:D

Might as well get in on the BS, I'll help dispose of it for you and unlike the others I will pick it up so no need to ship it. :)

Keep it but get it serviced this year if you can. I have a couple-few Sherwood models myself (SEE AVATAR). I used one of my older Sherwoods in a pool training session (it had been laying around a few years without being serviced) and it failed after forty minutes in the water. I would have never used it in open water but in the pool I said "what the heck lets see if this thing still works"...I always have at least one or two backups with me which get serviced annually. Have fun and stay safe!

I just checked my log book and my first dive on my new Sherwood Magnum Blizzard was on 5/12/84. 24 years and a few hundred dives later, it is still my primary regulator. It gets at least one ice dive each year and last year I took it to 145' in Lake Huron.

They are the primary regs for our team. Bullet proof and as trouble free as you can get. All of our gear get abused and subjected to conditions the average person will never see and we never have a problem we didn't cause.
