Hi Tommy.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting certified this time of year. There are 2 or 3 Ohio instructors on the board that frequent the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew (GLWC) forum of Scubaboard. If you don't get an answer here, ask a moderator to move your thread to the GLWC. I'm sure someone there will have an instructor or shop recommendation.

What organization? I'm NAUI and could probably arrange to do it no matter what organization you trained with but I need to see your skills in the pool first and make sure your skills meet my standards.

December works best for me, I was looking to join another instructor for the second day of her check-outs at Gilboa Dec. 3 if I don't have to go to Michigan that weekend.

I went with PADI. Did my class room and pool dives. Finished up last night actually. If you are able to do it, what is the cost? Do I need to get my information from the LDS that I went through?.... Thanks for you time and information.

PM on the way.

Hey Tommy...I am a PADI OWSI. I will dive any time you want to. Who did you do your classroom stuff with? You give me a weekend and I will get you certified. Travis

Pardon my ignorance but don't you have to be affiliated with a dive shop to OW certify someone? Just curious because I had to pay out the ***** for my certification with a private instructor through a local dive shop.

Bryan

Dont know. I think all I need is a referral from the dive shop.

Most instructors can certify anyone as an independent instructor. Some shops frown upon their instructors doing this because it takes business away. It just depends on the relationship between the instructor and the shop, and how the instructor came in contact with the student.
