I went into Odyssey this weekend. i don't usually get fills there but I was in the area and decided to stop in. They charged me $6 for a fill. When I got home I checked out there website and saw that it says $3 for a fill. I also notice that he told me that the webbing I was buying was 50 cents/foot so I got ~3 feet and he charged me $3!
I wrote them and still haven't gotten a response.

Anyone else have this poor of service from them?
I know it's only a few bucks but if they'll do it for that what if I bought a big ticket item? It's the priciple of it. I won't be going back there.

I was in for an air fill the other day and was charged $6 but your website says $3.
Was I over charged?
Second Email, still no response:
Hello. Anyone there? I haven't heard back from you yet.

Rickster used to DM for them. My buddy Dimitri got some Hydro's, VIS, and Nitrox cleans from them for lower than anywhere in Denver.

I've met the owners, and they seem like good people, but they have been through some changes.

$6 for a fill is not highway robbery. $1 a foot for Webbing is actually cheap. A1 charges something like $3 per foot for Webbing, even if it's REALLY nice webbing!

So why did you not question the charges when they occurred?

Maybe you should check out the prices of other shops in the area before Dissing this dive shop because even if you feel like you were over charged a WHOLE $2.50, you still may have got a good deal. :eyebrow:

I'll chime in here because it's one of my pet peeves with LDS's. Everybody gets a different price. I've paid $3.00 for O-rings and 25% over MSRP for equipment. Then our LDS's wonder why people buy over the internet! Well here is a news flash, the internet price is in fact the PRICE! For you, me and the next guy. I'm not concerned that I pay more for good service, but I am concerned that I've paid more than my buddy paid for the same item at the same store. You can make a fool of someone once, but when you get caught you won't get a second chance. Anybody think Robanna will give them a second shot? It's not the few bucks, its the insult.

Hey Frank,

I agree 100% with what you are saying about some shops charging more at the LDS vs. online. Based on the Odyssey website however, they are not selling gear online. In fact their attitude is old school, and they refuse to sell regs online for example....

I could not find a reference to the price of webbing, but their air fill prices maybe simply out of date. They compare their price, three bucks, with others, four bucks. Well it's been over a year since I've paid less than five bucks for an airfill in Denver anywhere.

Odyssey was forced to change locations, and I know they have been struggling to get all this together for a while. That may have forced changes in their pricing, and I think they may just not have updated their website. Obviously, they are not charging less for ONLINE air fills... no? :eyebrow:

Odyssey has a webmaster that does not care about that web site, the owners have tried to get the passwords to take care of the site but I was told that the webmaster wont give them up. The owners know the site is not up to date, last time I looked, the site still showed thier old shop location.

yeah, that was my thought. Many dive shops have websites that are out of date and/or rarely update them. I have complained about this problem to our local LDS and they don't seem to care that it is out of date and information is misleading in many cases. They just don't think it is important. I think they are very wrong! Most NEW divers are computer saavy and want an LDS that seems up-to-date and modern in all respects. Websites that look amateurish and outdated turn away many new customers in my opinion. Just one of my pet peeves!

It has very little to do with what I was charged and more to do with the fact that they don't respond to me and to tell me one price and walk me over to the cash register and charge me another. So, don't try and make this about pricing. It's about service. Like I said in my OP "I know it's only a few bucks but...It's the priciple of it."

I am a web designer and I know how hard it can be to keep thing up to date. I was making them aware of it and got no response.

If there wesite still showed there old location, I would have never found them. They have a map on there site that shows them where I found them (I don't know where they were located but they're there now).

I'm over it and will be using my usally LDS.

Well if price is not object, and service is your goal, you will be very broke, and very happy! :D There are plenty of shops in Denver that will charge you 2X for equipment vs. what you can pay elsewhere, but they will kiss your as while doing so! :rofl3:

I needed a HP hose, and I called my LDS. They wanted $48 PLUS tax for the privilege of selling me the hose. I picked one up while I was in FL at Divers Direct for $22.

If an LDS TELLS you one price, and then charges you another, question it at the time of the sale.

I said "It has very little to do with what I was charged."
If they wanted to charge me $12 for a fill I would have walk right out. $6 for a fill is reasonable. It's what I pay at my usual LSD, but why can't they reply to me. I've even invited them to this forum and still nothing.

One more time. It's about service. ****ty service isn't worth any price.

I am a HUGE customer service demanding person and one thing I have to say after reading what has been posted so far...... if they are having issues with their website/webmaster - they may have not received your "emails". So, try the old fashioned way - try calling them. I have dealt with them before and I am sure they would make it right if they know about it. They are trying - maybe, if it really bugs you - you should go to the next step (CALL THEM).
