Howdy folks!

Been diving for only 3 years, AOW for 2. I was trained on the BC but now use a simple "pack" for non drift dives. Also I use the long Cressi 2000 freediving fins for all dives. I find I get more power and speed with this combo than my BC and otherwise excellent Space Frogs, though my fellow divers look sideways at me.

Does anyone else use or prefer "nonstandard" equipment?

It seems to me that the variety of scuba equipment is such that I question whether there is a standard "pack". There are so many variations in terms of where you dive, the type of diving, the weather conditions that everyone kits themself up to the appropriate level that suits the. If your pack and long fins suit you then go with it!

I think you'll find some great info about the equipment people are using, in the equipment section. You'll be surprised with some of the choices.

Enjoy the board.

Ar :)

Hi and Welcome to the boards from Rochester NY. :)

A freind uses Freediving fins. He's a DM. He says things like "meet at the bottom of the rope and then follow me". Nobody can keep up! it's not good for air consumption trying to keep up with someone using these fins!

We threatened to cut 12 inches off of them :D

When we dive with that bunch, My wife and I will usually do our own dive. rather than trying to keep up with the group that's trying to keep up with him.

My opinion is, Freediving fins are for Freediving, Unless your buddy is using them too.

welcome to the board, all kinds of info in here if you got questions:)
