Jahjah, it may be expensive, but when you figure the cost of a two tank dive off a boat runs about $50-60 right now, Ginnie Springs really is not that bad of a deal... $27 for a day.

All things said and done, it's not that bad. However, I could dive for three days at a state park for the price of one day at Ginnie. Maybe I'll show up late friday and just dive Saturday and Sunday. Worst case scenario, I'll just dive Saturday. I shouldn't be hurting that bad for cash, but I'll need several air fills too, as well as food and i might have to pay for gas to get out there (depends how full the car is :) ) But I might get a buddy to come with me, in which case some of those costs could be split.

I'm really hoping I can go, I don't know of anything on those days that would keep me from going.

The only issue with taking the Turkey Roost area is that it might be more of a pain to park than in the spring due to the all the cavers at the NACD event. Not sure if we can designate some parking areas right by the turn around area.

We're still in at the moment. Slowly getting more camping gear together now. Its a shame we cant bring the dog with us, so we'll have to find a sitter i guess.

I'd suggest getting fills up at Cave Excursions if you have your own tanks or want nitrox, the Ginnie fills are ok, but a bit steep at $6 (IIRC) a pop versus whatever the going rate is now at CEE, something like 8c per cf which works out to be $4 per air fill or $6-7 per nitrox fill as most folks dont suck their tanks down to less than 500psi.

Still have to get my doubles VIP'd prior to this and i'lll probably by diving wet rather than dry just for the sake of not having that to worry about after not diving in a while!!

Or you can dive all year with the state park pass for the price of camping and diving for the weekend at Ginnie!

We'll definately dive on saturday, maybe on friday too, depends what time we get there. Sunday is usually the pack up and leave day.

year pass is $300, diving for 3 days and two nights camping is around a little less than half that......not sure I want to take the plunge and get that year round pass. If I dove there all the time, it'd be worth it.

Jah, i think he means the Florida State Park dive pass... i think it's around $80 now?

BabyDuck:
all pretty correct! ginnie's shop will rent tanks, for however many days you need them, so you can keep filling or rent two and fill less often. ow is fine for the basic, 'everyone included' dives. last time we had - what, guys, about 30 people but not all were divers??

can't answer the pumpkin question. and don't get a big dive knife - people will make fun of you. get a z-knife and a pumpkin carving kit!

Marci,

Bring your cool pumpkin carving kit! This girl can carve the coolest pumpkins...

my bad, you're right. Maybe I could buy one of those and try to convince Ginnie to let me in with that....or maybe they should give group discounts?

One question I have, their site says prices might be higher around huge holidays....any chance those prices will change the day before I leave becuase its the weekend before Halloween?

Card for now drop me down to just me, the friend from Raleigh is still iffy about this so I don't know if she will make it or not.

I am really looking forward to this, I have been wanting to get down there for some time.

We have held this event for something like three years now, always close to these same dates, and have never experienced a rate hike.
