BOXING MATCH ANNOUNCER VOICE BOOMS OUT:

and the waif in the red corner, weighing in at 3 pounds 4 ounces,...
THE LITIGATOR!!!!!!

This is going to be a challenge match folks. Any takers? Any take... we HAVE a challenger!!!

Hailing from East Bedfield, Nebraska, covered in wool and hopping mad,...
weighing in at 14 tons, 7 ounces,...
The Sheepherder's Nightmare! What a ball of wool! I've never seen a sheep that large in my life!

Now the cage comes down and locks in place.
"CAGE?!" The Litigator states in a terrified tone.
The bell rings and the bag drops open like a pinata spilling weapons onto the ring floor.
The Nightmare quickly scoops up the cable ties and heads across the ring. The Litigator grabs the tube of Petroleum, it's as if he knows what's in store for him... :no
This is not a match for the faint of heart! We pause now for station identification...

:rofl3:

Well, alrighty then!

OK, official announcment here, folks. (Jenny, do your magic with this)

I have got a commitment from Ginnie management on the cleanup dive on Saturday the 28th. They are going to provide us with topside support, including boat/boats to deposit the trash in, people in the boats to help us dump the trash out of the bags, dispose of the trash from there, etc. All we have to do is supply the divers to collect it. And get this: Everyone who is an active participant in this cleanup dive will get that day of diving for free, and will receive an additional future dive day for free.

Now here is what I need from you guys. I need everyone who can commit to not only showing up for the weekend but also to doing this cleanup dive to let me know, preferably by posting in this thread, or alternatively by PM'ing me. If you are not sure about it, that's cool, but I am looking for hard commitments, so I have some numbers that I can show to Ginnie that proves that this will be a worthwhile investment for them. Please be aware that this can be a rather challenging dive. The best visibility that I have seen in the river has probably been 20 feet, but I have also seen it be so bad as a couple of feet. Currents can be a factor as well. And on top of that, this is a working dive, hunting for trash, at times kicking against the flow, bagging trash underwater, taking it to the surface, etc.

So let me know something here.

PS: I plan on doing an exploratory dive into the river either Friday(Oct. 27th) afternoon or early Saturday(Oct 28th) morning to scope out the conditions, so everyone will have a good idea what they will be up for before we start the dive.

you and David have watched Deliverance together one too many times, it seems

:rofl3:

Seeing as I didn't get to meet any of you Conch divers on my trip from which I just got home from, I thought I might be able to partake in this event.

What I would need to know is,seeing as I can't drive till Nov. I'm looking for a ride. :)
I could fly into to Clearwater, Pensacola, Tampa..doesn't matter to me where as long as I could bum a ride with someone.

Another thought is camping? That would be more luggage..:light: Are there some close motels close by I could stay at or should I just expect to pack the camping gear too?

And yeah I would consider the clean-up dives.

David you can count on Roxanne and me to help clean up.
If I remembercorrectly from last spring finding trash will not take much effort at all. It looked like a beer bottle factory in some ares. We look forward to your Recon report on river conditions.

I am in for the clean up as well.

rhyz - I haven't pulled all my camping gear out of the attic yet but I am pretty sure I have an extra tent and blanket if your up to roughing it with the rest of us.

David - well, you know how I am with low viz, but I'm willing to commit to the cleanup dive (especially for a free day of diving!). I'll check with my brother and see if I can talk him into joining us.

:D

We have held this event for something like three years now, always close to these same dates, and have never experienced a rate hike.
That would be due to the fact that Halloween isn't a holiday :D

You know I'm in for it....If anyone wants a ride from the Tampa/St.Pete area (EARLY AM) I can assist....my on call work schedule may change the return times though.
