I will be there Oct 23-Oct 30 with my non-diving wife. Staying at Villa Aldora. Diving with Aldora too if they can get together some afternoon dives. Attending DAN medical meeting there.

Dive Day #3 - Maricaibo, 128ft for 56 minutes, Columbia Shallows, 33ft for 96 minutes. No big animals to speak of at Maricaibo today. Virtually no currents either. Went under the arch at 128 feet. Columbia Shallows had lots of small critters and a few larger ones. Three turtles, two nurse sharks, golden eel, lots of arrow crab and different colored anenome. Very colorful. Boat ride back was a bit bumpy. Winds out of the north, forced the Falicity to go to the northern marina to dock. There were two lion fish spotted on each dive. Edger went 0 for 4. He forgot his sling, but did try to take one out with a short pointed rod he had. Hope the winds die before tomorrow morning.

Dive Day #4 - Port closed to all water sports due to wind and waves. Aldora took us to the east side. 1st dive, Hanan, 50ft, 68 minutes. No current, plenty of surge. Lots of different types of coral decorating the 20 to 30 foot coral heads, including a rather large stand of Staghorn coral. Seen one large stingray, a very big barracuda, and one lion fish. 2nd dive was at the site of the canons, 36ft, 78 minutes. At least 10 large canon from what is thought to be the 1700's and a big anchor. Spotted a couple of eagle rays. Was surprised that there was a large swim-through. Coral heads were slightly shorter than at Hanan, but were interesting with many narrow, but navigable, gaps between heads. Again, no current, but heavy surge. Only one lion fish spotted all day, and he lives on as I don't think Javier saw him.

For those who asked, water temps have been a very comfortable 83 degrees.

Dive Day #5 - Port closed this morning, went to the east side again. 1st dive, Rosta, near the southern tip of the island, 109ft, 61 minutes. Very wide and long reef, seen a couple of turtles and a a few lion fish, crab and lobster. Dive #2, Rosta(Shallows), 63ft, 75 minutes. Lots of color, many different and colorful sponges, lots of sea fans and different types of coral. Nurse shark, stingray, and more lion fish. Edger and one of the other divers with slings were one kill and one wounding out of a total of approximately 8 lion fish spotted.
