Many of the local dive ops offer the Discover Scuba course. There may be one perhaps at your hotel or near where you are staying. My advice is to do a quick search here on the Cozumel thread and read about the experiences of other scubaboarders. Then, make a list of 3 - 5 dive ops that appeal to you and send your questions directly to them. Your departure date is very soon, therefore time is of the essence.

Have a wonderful time !

medc26 do you know where you would be staying? Many places offer Discover scuba. I am staying at Blue Sngel and last year I saw them offering the discover scuba class in the afternoon.
Have fun.

Just back from trip #1 to Coz this month. Dove with Scuba Mau. It was myself, my girlfriend, one of our other coworkers. We were joined by 3 other people, 2 from this website, and another guy. Dove Palancar Gardens (52 minutes bottom time) and Tormentos (55 minutes bottom time). I have done Palancar before, but it was nice to do again. It was my first time diving Tormentos. It was a nice shallow dive. For the first time in a long time, I actually got to dive (most) of my tank. My girlfriend actually managed to get a 3mm full suit and did not start to get cold until the safety stop on both dives, which was a first. I will be definitely diving with Scuba Mau again. Not sure if it will be in 2 weeks time as I'm the entertainment tech on duty and won't be able to get off the ship, but hopefully at the end of the month, if not when I'm in Coz in Nov (I have a 14 hour port day coming up. I think I may try for 4 dives in a day).

Here is our updated October 2010 Cozumel list :)

OK, it's now October and some of you are either in Cozumel or arriving soon. Anyone got any recent water tempertures to share with those of us who will be down shortly?

Dive day #2, Columbia Deep, 97ft for 66 minutes, Santa Rosa along the top of the reef, 69ft for 76 minutes. Water temperatures have been a warm 83 degrees F. Currents were slow at both sites. Columbia was as usual a very nice dive for those of us that are still awed by big coral and a swim-through or two. Santa Rosa was very nice cruising along near the top of the wall. Nurse shark, lobster, moray eel, and a grouper that followed us like a lost puppy. Oh! Did I forget to mention the huge eagle ray. His body must have been 20 inches thick with a wing span of 6 or 7 feet. Javier was at 50% today with his efforts to control the lion fish population. He got 2 of 4 sighted. To bad he missed the biggest lion fish I have seen to date.

Thanks for throwing in DM name! I'm an Aldora girl and love to know who DMs the dives others write about. Puts me just a LITTLE bit more there!

Please tell them - capitans included - that Sallye sends hugs and kisses.
