Hi Guys,

I am deciding on which computer to get.... I got it down to 3 kinds.
1. Oceanic Versa Pro
2. Suunto Mosquitos
3. Aeris Atoms 2

From my understanding the Mosquistos has a normal sports watch feature so I don't have to wear a seperate watch when I am on a dive trip. Does the other 2 computers have some basic watch features? Any advice is highly appreciated. Thank you!!

Although my Atmos 2 has the time of day on it, I sure wouldn't want to wear it as a watch!

The nickname "hockey puck computer" is there for a reason.

As for watch functions it does have:

When underwater, it will show the time of day if you press the front button. Surface mode shows the time also. When in surface mode, finding the date takes a lot of digging through submenus, and there is no stopwatch function. You can play with the Atmos 2 here Aeris 2 demo .

As a Recreational Nitrox computer, we love it. Can't imagine this as a watch though!

All the best, James

The Suunto is the only watch/computer of your list. The others have the time of day but are not intended to provide double duty.

I have the Suunto Mosquito and like it as a watch and back-up computer. The battery can be changed by the user, which to me is a good feature. As you get older or have vision problems it might be a little hard to view the data. Also, the crystal is soft plastic and will scratch easily. They do suppy a plastic cover to go over the crystal, however; I find it even harder to read the data through it UW. My primary computer is an air intergrated Oceanic Data Plus Pro w/ Compass. I like it because it has very big numbers and is easy to operate. If you do a lot of cold water diving in dry suits, etc. I'd consider the Suunto Vyper instead. (To big for a watch though.) :beret:

The versa pro and atmos 2 are pretty much the same thing. Both of these computers will allow you a lot of no-stop time as compared to other contemporary dive computers. Neither is intended to be used for dives that involve mandatory deco stops, even those which go a little beyond the no-stop limits. This works for most, but not all divers.

I can't read small numbers, so I am not partial to watch sized computers.

Hi Guys:

Thank you very much for your valuable inputs. I am leaning toward the Mosquitos now. So before I make my purchase; i just want to make sure that no one has hear any major flaws on this watch. Thank you again!!

Jeff

These are the same 3 choices I have, for the same concerns. Though I was wondering if the Mosquito is "too conservative" like the Cobra, which many people complain about.

Yup... same algo... You can do a 60 ft dive for 49 with all the suunto, while the aeris says a 60 for 57 (navy tables are 60 for 60, padi and naui tables, 60 for 55.)

I prefer the Aeris setup - and the numbers are much larger.
