Found a couple of Spanish Shawls mating last week off Santa Cruz Island in SoCal. Quite an unusual sight...

Wisnu, awesome! I'm in love with the first one. I have never seen one like that before!

@Wisnu - great pictures. I love the first one too - do you have an ID for it?

@Wisnu - great shots! The first one is a pleurobranch, a.k.a sidegill slug. This is probably Pleurobranchus forskalii, which can be this color or a maroon-type color. Great captures with the emperor shrimp!

thanks all,
we saw few in secret bay - size approx. 1 cm
agree with Max, I think it's Pleurobranchus mamillatus,

i'm more interested on the pic no. 3 - not sure what they are doing; look like mating, but they are different species, on the right is Rsbecia tryoni.and Hypselodoris pulchella on the left
Several time I saw these nudies are trailing - but first time i found on that position

Nudibranchs have their reproductive organs on their left side. To mate, they have to be facing opposite directions. These two were just eating side by side.
