This sounds like a real adventure! The kind of stuff that makes dive travel so rewarding.
That really was indeed! the coast guards had stopped all ferries and boats the day before, therefore we only had a short time frame to cross the channel before the storm was on us, hence the sunrise crossing.
The bangka who intially agreed on the eve got a cold feet case and canceled early morning at 5AM, luckily the dive operator assisting us found a substitute boat in half an hour time : bad news it was a dilapidated bangka almost a wreck, no kidding one of the floaters was half broken, the roof frame and cover fell on us in the midst of the crossing, we were completely washed with rain and waves as we had to carry the bamboo frames from the roof the rest of the trip, otherwise they would have beaten and slapped us with the wind.
When we finally set foot on a beach in Cebu nearby Argao our clothes were soaked like a wetsuit after a 60 minutes dive and covered with white paint flakes, so that we decided to get butt naked to fit dry ones.
Even though when we walked in the hall of the 5 star Radission hotel in Cebu, the receptionnist looked at us like we were zombies coming into a Hugh Hefner Xmas party.

To be honest the sea was bad but I can't imagine why such ferries as the Cokalion had been stopped by the coast guards.

As I recall the ferry from Cebu to Bohol is a big ship, but with all the ferry disasters one reads about in the news it is probably good that they ere on the side of caution. Sounds like your banca crossing was a close call?

I think a lot of the 'pro' looking shots on here are taken with SLR cameras. Not that you can't get great Nudi shots with a point and shoot and a lot of patience.
Some of my best Point & Shoot nudis;

Great images!

I think the real difference between a compact and a dSLR only shows up with wide angle or supermacro (2:1) .
You can do as well with either a compact or a dSLR on macro on macro nudibranch shots, providinh the lighting is good. (though I have seen two guys on Flickr who only shoot with the compact camera's internal flash and regularly win macro competitions, check out Brian Mayes and Jack Berthomier )

Here is one from last night:

OK what the heck, I have some more nudibranch shots, that have odd lighting, soft focus, bad composition.....but they are NUDIS so I am going to put them up anyway!

Corambe pacifica, found on patches of bryozoan on kelp. These little guys are so tiny that it's like taking a picture of a small freckle on someone doing jumping jacks.

I used to see fairly large Corambe (dime-sized) on the drift kelp rafts (paddies) we sampled as part of a scientific research project back in the 1960s and 1970s.

Here is my favorite local nude... er nudi, the California blue dorid (Felimare californiensis)
