That has to be a quarry dive, right? I have a serious problem imagining something like that in salt water.

Local lake, yeah. Thermoclines were VERY sharp, you could literally see them.

If you are talking about the Treasure Hunt at American this weekend, my wife and I just dove there this past Sunday and the temps were in the low to mid 70's down to the thermocline at 40 feet, not 20. I wore a 3 mm with hood and gloves and my wife had an Ultra 1 mm jumpsuit with hood and gloves and we were both quite comfortable. Unless you are very cold-natured, you should be fine with a 3mm as long as you have a hood and gloves also.

And we will be at the Treasure Hunt as well.

Thanks Gregg, I must have misunderstood the depth of the thermocline when I heard the report.

And yes, it is the Treasure Hunt at American this Sunday. I do have gloves but, my hood won't be here until the Pinnacle V-Skin comes in. Turns out, my size isn't available in the US so it's coming in from New Zealand and likely won't be here for a few weeks.

As fate would have it, my LDS didn't have a 7mm available after all. What he had available was a two-piece 3mm and a two-piece 10mm. I chose the 3mm and will try wearing the 3mm top with my 3mm full as I never seem to have problems with my legs getting cold. I also don't seem to have any problems with excessive heat loss through the top of my head. But, there's no point in taking any chances. I may run out today and see if I can at least pick up a Beanie to get through Sunday.

Hope to see you guys out there. I'll be driving a metallic blue Silverado. If you see me, please stop by and say hello.

Fletch

Fletch, my wife and I will be driving a red Honda Pilot. I have an extra hood (5mm large) if you would like to borrow it, assuming we find each other Sunday. We plan on being at the quarry around 8:30 or so. We hope to be at the shelter closest to the changing rooms. I'll bring it with me.

Thanks Gregg. I went by The Dive Shop in Claremont on Friday and picked up a 2mm Beanie. I tend to be warm natured and I usually don't want a lot on my head. I should be fine with the 2mm but, if I get cold, I'll certainly be looking for you. And large is a good size for me.

I actually could have bought a full hood in 5mm. But, with a full hood on the way, it seemed like a waste. I think I'm going to try just my full 3mm wetsuit first. And, if I get cold it won't take but a few minutes to throw on the 3mm upper for some added warmth.

Look forward to seeing you folks there. This will be my first Treasure Hunt.
