Any one have any info on nose bleeds after diving. Had a strange situation durring my last dive vacation.
Had been diving for a week and had no problems and durring a dive I had a little pressure issue about 80ft so up a little I went and every thing was fine so I stayed above that point for the rest of the dive at the end of the dive did the 15ft for 3-5 min stop and surfaced. After I was on the boat for a min or two notice that I had a bloody nose and within 10 min everything was ok. I live in AZ normally and a bloody nose occasionally is somewhat normal here as the moisture in the air is really low and every thing dries out so I did not think to much of it until the next AM dive when the same thing happend but without the pressure issue. After this I had some concerns and did not dive the next 3 dives that were available to me..

I have approx 55 dives with no such issues before and I am in good health.
Are there doctors that specialize in/or have knowledge related to diving issues?
Wonder if I should have someone look me over??

TIA
ChrisR

Minor nose bleeds are fairly common in diving.

Remember you are breathing very dry air when underwater, unless you are on a rebreather. :D

It could easily just be the dry air.

It could also be a minor sinus squeeze.

If it is frequent or troublesome you might want to see a good doctor who is familiar with diving medicine.

A simple bit of blood is one thing, a large amount of bloody froth is quite another.

Somewhat likely to be a sinus squeeze - I've had the dreaded reverse block in the sinuses before, and it was NOT fun.

That one's easy to identify though - it feels like someone is taking a jackhammer to your sinuses on ascent..... and unfortunately, all you can do is ascent very slowly, hold, and try to "work it out", since there is no way to force equalization of the sinus spaces as there is for ears.

After reading the post about the person witht the ear problems i've figured out that some blood is not uncommon. However I tend not to like vital fluid loss.. Just makes you worried..
Also sounds like there are quite a few people that have equalizing issues.. I do not normally have any issues but looks like a little pressure goes a long ways.

Thanks for the input..

A bit of a nosebleed isn't all that uncommon, but if it keeps happening I'd have an ENT take a look-see - there might be some kind of structural or persistent infection issue that can be cleared up.
