Noboundaries, Sarita75 - thank you for the information. As I mentioned, we have never dove there so when I saw the water condition and not knowing much about it, I was trying to gauge the dive difficulty.

Thanks again for the information and images. It gave me a good perspective now. Side question - it looks like the weekend dive passes are typically gone. Do they allow weekday diving?

Weekday diving? Absolutely. Call 1-831-624-8413 for reservations or go to their website. Weekday diving permits are not a problem if the cove is open. They close it sometimes for special events, but not that often. I'm not an expert on the location like Doc Wong is, but the lady who issues the permits talked to me for quite a while on our last trip and filled me in on a lot of information.

The Pt. Lobos website has tons of good info on diving there. Special events that close the cove
are VERY rare (about once or twice a year), and they mark all the reservations as gone, so if you
checked, you won't be showing up anyway. I know about once a year the FBI Dive Team uses
the cove, and sometimes they close it for road or pipe maintenance.

Great report and pics Sarah!

It was great seeing and meeting everyone! Thanks Sarah and Robin for being great buddies, Doc for the dive briefing, Laurel for mask assistance, Ron and Carrie for the help on the our exit, great chili for lunch and good coffee this morning, and everyone else for the great company and another great M&G.

Thanks everyone for your hospitality last sat! I had a good time and enjoyed the day.

-Robin
