Be careful. A few years ago one of our local instructors did a fairly conservative set of instructional dives, but got bent after driving on the road past the Airport-in-the-Sky to be with her BF in Two Harbors. Can't say 100% that was what caused it, but I don't think she's been in the water since.

Yeah, I was thinking why even chance it. Dive one day, island tour the other. Wouldn't want to chance the bends over anything, let alone for something that's easily done another day.

Wow. That's awful.

I had dived in Belize once. After getting off cruise ship, was taken to airport and flew (small paddle hopper) to Ambergris Caye, and did 2 tank boat dives there, not deep, maybe 80' max. After that, flew back to Belize. Don't remember the height, but certainly remember checking and it was within the limits. I was fine.

We're coming to Catalina island on Fri. Aug. 28 with wife and MIL. Was planning to dive/snorkel at Casino Point, then rent golf cart to drive around. Since I've flew that time and was fine, I guess I should be fine here.

But that's too bad for that lady.

FWIW, I don't think you can get to an altitude/outside of town in a golf cart.

Nope, altitudes in town accessible by a golf cart are probably on the order of 400 ft. I'd check in my GIS but it's on another computer.

You can walk through the botanical gardens up to the Wrigley Memorial then hike in the hills, all doable on your own, no guide or tour needed. Unfortunately I think just this past year they closed the horse stables.
