Non Original Replacement Batteries ?????

Hi,

I just bought an Oly C-8080 camera and am now looking into accesories. I'd like to pick up an extra battery or two but am not sure what to buy. An original Oly battery runs $40+ and I have seen off-brand batteries as low as $10. Do the off brand batteries work as well ??? Is there any risk in buying them ???

The original battery has specs of 7.2v and 1500 mah. I have seen replacement batteries with the exact same specs and also some that are 7.4v and 1700 mah. Is there any risk using a battery with the higher voltage and amps ?

Please let me know if anyone out there has had any problems with off brand batteries or if you have any words of wisdom about the subject. Thank you.

you must use exact same voltage, but the battery can have a higher mah rating

I would go with brand name company for batteries
