Why do we need labels? If I said "non DIR", is that admitting I'm "doing it wrong"?

'Non' DIR and doing just fine thank you. :)

LOL. And other tech divers dive for the hate of it?

No no no!:D I did not mean that at all. I'm sure if it was not fun for them, they would not do it either.

I mean I dive because I have fun doing it, I just don't concern myself with whether or not someone else thinks my gear is not the same as theirs. I find it a bit funny (not in any way a ridicule) that in order to be considered DIR, I have to have the same gear configuration as everyone else I’m diving with. I don’t much care if they do, but that sort of rigid conformation to a myopic philosophy is not my style.

I prefer to relax and focus on the pure enjoyment of diving with my lovely bride, insure that she is safe and have fun!
;)

Understood what you were saying, bet others did to!!! ;)

I think of mysef as "mostly DIR"

I also wonder how many people who responded to the poll assumed "non-DIR" meant "anti-DIR"?

:-)

And, by using the term, 'Non' DIR diver , one assumes that those that describe themselves as such, have considered DIR in the first place, and rejected it. Point: DIR is a non-factor in 99.999% of all diving activity...
