Hey NetDoc:
Have you ever been to the PST facility? What in the world makes you think that scuba is a SMALL part of what PST manufactures?
Even a cursory glance at PST's Website shows that they produce FAR MORE than just Scuba tanks. We are still very much a niche industry and scuba tanks probably represent less than 10% of PST's total output. It might be even smaller than that. If/when they respond here they can tell us what that number is.

StSomewhere,

You may be right! Nothing is filled out in their profile to indicate who they are or what affiliation they might have. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully they will clarify who they represent (if anyone).

Actually, to answer scubagoomp's question: I have NOT been to any of PST's facilities and have no affiliation with them whatsoever, other than buying and using their tanks. I would love for them to advertise with us, as I would ANY manufacturer. After all, we reach over a half million visitors each and every month which is about three times the circulation of the LARGEST Scuba related magazine. We have the divers that the manufacturers are trying to reach!

I think someone has an axe to grind against PST. scubagoomp has exactly one post here and one on TDS, ironically they are the same post.

Maybe he was laid off

Dear NetDoc,

Scubagoomp may be new but he's right. Don't believe their web site, PST has exited the CNG business and has sold their small size cylinder operations to Korea. I talked with a company in Milwaukee that is working with the Koreans to set up their new operation overseas. PST has declared that their new product line was to be scuba and 3HT (aircraft) cylinders. If you don't believe that scuba is not a major % of their business I have a bridge in New York available for sale.

They make a good product but after failing to get deliveries under control for over 3 years it's time to figure out why. My money is on Worthington.

500 PSI:
Manufacturing, particularly metal working, in the USA is declining rapidly.

You're not seriously claiming this are you ?

In 1970 the US economy employed about 25% of it's workforce in manufacturing. Today it's less than 10%. And yet the US manufactures far more with that 10% than they did in with 25% of the workforce in 1970. Despite the focus on China, America is the worlds biggest manufacturer in $ value. So much for the death of US manufacturing.

Hopefully PST will survive but it is up to them to forge their own destiny (pardon the pun) :)

Hey all,

I live just off capital drive in Milwaukee, not far from where the new location of PST (the old AO Smith, Tower automotive plant). As of last week, there was still a lot of construction (although it looks more like destruction) going on at this new place. I don't know if they are still working out of the old factory or not, I haven't been down that way. As for the new place, I don't see any signs of it opening anytime soon, but you never know. Contruction can go very fast. I am just reporting what I am seeing, but that might not mean a whole lot.

If they go out = No DOT mean them PST tanks will [all] be scrap!

Dive safe,
Brad

FYI this only applies to goofy US regulations. In Canada the transport Canada stamp does not need to be renewed and the tanks are good for as long as they pass hydro.

I don't care who owns the manufacture and what kind of behind story there is.

Just hope every business is going well in this sport through a fair competition as a regular diver.. :)

The main concerns are a good product, cheap price, and excellent customer service. That's it....
