No more re-entry testing

Good news, in my view (this is from the NYT, but is being reported widely):

The Biden administration has decided to lift the requirement that all travelers bound for the United States by air, including American citizens, must show negative coronavirus test results before boarding flights, a senior administration official said Friday morning.

Last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention required travelers heading for the United States to have a negative test result in an attempt to slow the spread of the fast-moving virus and its variants.

That policy will expire Sunday at 12:01 a.m., the official said, after officials at the C.D.C. determined that the widespread adoption of vaccines and treatments for Covid-19 no longer make it a requirement.

Everyone praise our savior Biden! I'm still trying to figure out how a test administered 24-48 prior to entry prevents me contacting and subsequently spreading it within that period. Just silly imo... at least it is going the way of the dodo for now.

Jesus Christ, can nothing be posted about Covid without certain people bringing politics into it? When I posted this on FB, it included a warning I was going to delete political crap as some people can never help themselves. I still had to delete comments.

Satire... like I said I'm glad it's going away. The testing was pointless for the task it was trying to accomplish Marie. RAT prior to boarding or getting your boarding pass would have made sense and likely had far less push back. Yay science

You missed the rest of it. Testing 24-48 hours before departing without a RAT at the time of boarding did nothing to prevent the influx of new illnesses. Unless of course they take their test and then go into full quarantine until getting in the flying tube. I appreciate the govt trying but they missed the mark and only offered glorified mouth service.

Thats great news. Now I don't have to waste time scheduling and waiting to get the test done the day before I leave when I'm on vacation

I feel sorry for all those folks traveling tomorrow. That must suck.

Imagine the labs etc that suddenly lost all of their revenue. They made big buckeroos for the past 18 months.

Nah, I heard you. As long as you agree with the President it's all good. As far as the 48 hours go, I think they were looking for a way to cut down percentages without unduly burdening the traveler. No one believes testing will be 100% effective in preventing the entry of infected individuals into the country.
But now that numbers are acceptable and variants are less virulent I think most of us welcome this change.
