It does have the benefit of protecting the locals. Especially ones who would rob you. Unarmed = easy target. I'll stay out of Mexico I think.
Come up with documentation of an incident of an unarmed US citizen on Cozumel as a tourist being robbed at knifepoint by a local. I'll hang up and listen...It does have the benefit of protecting the locals. Especially ones who would rob you. Unarmed = easy target. I'll stay out of Mexico I think.

Doesn't happen. I moved into town a few years ago, first time in 20 years I had locks on my house, but it's still a Mayberry of 2,000 - so San Miquel is much larger for me, and the whole experience is still foreign, but tourists seem to be appreciated as the protected cash cow.It does have the benefit of protecting the locals. Yeah, we all should check the State Department for every country we plan to visit, but how many do? I don't guess I ever have. Bringing this up now and then here seems appropriate, and I don't think I have ever seen pocket knives discussed before here?Good Post Don! Plain and simple know the laws of the countries your traveling too and as Josh said follow the rulles of Marine Park it all of ours responsilbility, also do not be afraid to pass those rules on to your boat mates.
I really want to carry a carving fork for the Lions...!Not being one to break the rules when in Cozumel, I wear dive socks on my hands and carry a dive hatchet.
