Rbidot, getting your tank O2 cleaned is a good thing...Its like getting your reg serviced every year. Sure you may not want to pay for it and sure it may look like its in good condition but do you really wanna be the guy standing in your LDS when your tank ruptures or having to rent a tank because they wont fill it at the shop?

Go with the lowest common denominator...play it safe...

So in theory you start to witness your buddy begin to seize, you could control their buoyancy and help them to ascend where the pPO2 is t a level where their body can metabolize the excessive O2. They don't drown if their 2nd stage stays in their mouth.

Am I wrong on this one?

Yes you are wrong on this one!

Standard advice for dealing with a toxing diver is to remain at that depth until the seizure ends.During the seizure the victims airway will be closed ,ascending will cause an embolism.
A toxing diver will most likely lose their second stage.Put it back in if you can.Even better use a reg attached to a tank with a lower O2 %.
After the seizure subsides victim is likely to be confused and/or combative.Once everything is under control ascent can be resumed.

Although people have been rescued from O2 seizures the probability of that happening is pretty low. Avoiding it is the best approach.

We're talking about EAN and the possibility of oxtox, which is what they teach you in virtually any Nitrox course, is low but, if you ascend, you can alleviate oxto. One thing that a lot of people don't seem to realize is that seizures is not automatically the first symptom of oxtox.

Numbness or tingling of the lips and face, and audio or visual disturbances can precede the seizure event. Paying attention to these signs and doing something about it may prevent going into a full blown seizure.
