CBulla....
Call it hooha or whatever you wish.
Wow.. got defensive and completely misread that... I was saying you all put up with a lot of crap!

I can't speak for the shop owners, since I'm an instructor/employee---but please remember--this is how we make our living. 99% of the shops in the Keys are NOT owned by large corporations like Cay Clubs--they are owned by individuals passionate about diving. Whle they would like to charge the customers the same price they are paying for the supplies or cut the mark-up to only a few pennies--------we have to pay our bills too ( and I like to take a dive vacation every once awhile too!).
Something that I was thinking about last night after I closed shop and went to sleep here - do all the shops, say in the upper keys, rely upon their own resources and buy stuff once as they need it or do they work together and buy O
2 or other stuff in bulk (just an example) so the truck that drives the bank tanks down only makes 1 trip in a week. I know, I know.. everyone is doing their own thing, but there are benefits to creating some things together as a group vs. a bunch of chickens in the barn yard with 1 rooster serving at his own whim.
I mean honestly, Sanibel which is across the bridge from where I live is like Key Largo with prices. I live in a tourst area and understand. I also would rather drive 20 miles to Homestead or what not than pay 3x the fill price. For what I'd blow in a day to dive Key Largo with my wife, I'd spend in a week diving Lauderdale by the Sea. KL diving is fun and honestly, the only real
affordable way for me to do it without blowing what we have saved is to actually bring our own boat down.
I guess I'm jaded since I live in another area thats touristy and have seen prices of housing, etc., go up to crazy stupid prices while pay didn't change. And for some dumb reason our gas is higher than yours is down there.
