Be nice, Pete . . .
I have too many dives of 100% NDL reduction time !
:D

I agree.

Don't set your computer for air when you're diving nitrox. Your computer is also looking at O2 exposure, and it will have too low a value if you do this. (I haven't seen anyone suggest doing this)

The discussion was ONLY about using NDL values for air when diving nitrox. That's just an arbitrary way of staying below the NDL limits for the gas you're diving. If you want to stay below the NDL limits then plan your dive to stay below the NDL limits. Don't kid yourself by using phony limits.

Very good advice, thanks. Yeah, the puter would have my 02 too low. That would be like trading potential poisons, huh? I won't get fancy for a few more years.

I _was_ being nice. <g> I don't think much of this notion of diving nitrox on air tables.

pilot fish: in case it wasn't clear, I was ridiculing the idea, not you. You asked a legitimate question.

I picked up on that . . . :eyebrow:

Thanks, That was not clear to me, although it did not tempt me to try it . At first glance it seemed like you'd lose a lot of BT doing that and that would render the use of nitrox unnecessary. I mean, divers use it to extednd NDL's /BT. Right?

Thanks everyone for the imput and the extended questions by other posters. I have learned a lot from everyone. I pick up my Nitrox book tonight and dive on the 19th of this month with the Nitrox. As it turns out I will be getting my AOW with Navigation, Dry Suite, night Dive, Boat dive, and Deep dive, ss well as completing the Nitrox cert. i will 6 Dives in all over two days. I can't wait. I just went through orientation last night and I am totaly pumped.

Thanks again,

Mike Miller
