I took my TDI Nitrox class last night, and used the "student discount" to finally buy a BC. After renting everything I could get my hands on, I finally setlled on a DiveRite aluminum plate, harness, STA, and Venture Wing, with Zeagle's tank mounted weight weight pouches.

Too bad there's more than a foot of ice on the lakes and it's below zero outside.

Oh well. Vacation on Grand Cayman is a little more than two months away. Here's to counting days!

Congratulations, do you have any EAN related questions or does it all make sense?

Minnesota in the winter....NOT!

(not me, that is...)

Now ya see, that MHK had his line in the water trolling like mad..........now he's caught a big fish!

I don't know, please tell me MHK.

Also when you're done explaining how I should have been taught (I'm serious) please let me know how the GUE OW is coming. Will it be recognized by the people that matter. (My sunshine loving resorts etc).

Compared to the math that I took in college (I still actually remember some bits and pieces) this stuff was easy.

Now I'm looking to get some more diving experience. I'll be on Grand Cayman for 10 days later this spring, and then I'll do as much as I can here at home this summer - AFTER that ice melts.

After that, who knows? Maybe TDI Advanced Nitrox/Deco procedures?

I was wondering if you could explain the difference between how to rescue a diver that is suffering from oxygen toxicty versus how you would rescue a diver that appears to be unconscious???

Good job Mike, I'm sure that will help this thread continue to be informative and useful. You know Chris and you know damn well how he'll react to this. Throwing gas on a fire is bad enough but building the fire just to do so is pretty sad. I expect a lot more out of you Mike.

It's ok Drew, we know now that by definition DIR doesn't troll.....

Atleast he did go back and edit his original post. I saw it earlier and decided to let the dead horse remain dead. And for the record I agreed with GUE that O2 is narcotic in another thread. But if you really want to think I'm that 2 dimensional, be my guest.

On the brightside Uncle Pug just went up a notch on my respect ladder.

I took Nitrox simply to extend the time of my recreational profiles. I have no interest in becoming a technical diver so thats the end of the line for me.

Since you said math, there are two schools of thought around here. One says Nitrox is all math and no skills other then anaylizing a tank. The other says Nitrox with its inheritent PO2 risks requires you to have your entire diving reviewed/polished and tested and throws in some additional rescue skills ( MHK's O2 Tox comment ). I'm not commenting on one vs the other, I just wanted you to have some perspective.
