There are always those little nagging things you heard, but can't confirm . It could very well have been a coincidence that a female diver decended rapidly, when on her menstrual cycle, and concluded the wrong cause and effect relationship.

I was a little embarassed asking this one, ( Like everyone would wonder where this neaderthal came frome?) but it has been nagging at me for years, and I couldn't find any info about it.

Thank you all for replying.

Don't be embarrased. A lot of medical studies have only been done on men so we don't always know how women would be affected.

AS far as narc'd variation I've identified several that effect me.

Time from last dive. Longer breaks between deep dives can make for more noticeable effects.

Lack of or excess sleep. Bad night? Stay shallower.

Drug history. Recent ethanol exposure and some antihistamines & motion sickness drugs can make for "interesting" dives.

Fish size. Tied to a large fish with a SST cable can make things worse. This is also related to shot placement. Stone dead fish, not much incresase noted. Rodeo ride deep it gets a lot worse.

Hydration: Similar to ethanol effects. Dehydration is a bad thing, even if it's "minor."

I"ve noticed no relation to blood donation schedule. Having donated over 10 Gal with dives as close to one hour of donation that is a pretty large sample size.

Fuel: Good food load, less effect on similar dives.
