Ok this is a pretty specific request, but here goes,

Does anyone recommend a good operator in Cozumel that does a TWO tank night dive, that is one right before dark and one at dark, ok here is the tough part- on a cattle boat on a Monday night? Just thought it would be fun to do a cattle boat dive at night with more people.

OK again, here's what I am looking for
1. twilight dive (2 tank)
2. cattle boat
3. Monday night
4. good op

I know that Dive House does all but two tank. They only go on one. I want the two dives.

Thanks for the help

Ummmm for most dive ops, night dives and twilight nigth dives are kinda on the fly.....Not many have set in stone schedules and most will tell you that they will set it up when you get there. That way they can be sure to fill boats up and not send out 2 divers to do a night dive.

Start emailing opperators down there ASAP and see if you can get an answer.

I did one of these with Cozumel Equalizers a couple of years ago. I believe that they still do them, but I don't know about what days, and all their dives are on small boats.

But let me say this - I was a little underwhelmed by the first of the two dives, the one just before sunset. Because of the angle of the sun on the water, most of it gets reflected away, leaving you with a dim sort of gray ambient light. Not dark enough for lights to make a whole lot of difference, but not light enough to see any color in anything. The "night" life was not out yet, but a lot of the "day" life was beginning to retire for the evening.

On a positive note, since we went way south for the first dive, we dove Columbia shallows for the night dive, which is unusual, since most (if not all) operators will only go as far south as Chankanaab for a 1 tank night dive. We were all alone out there.

I started to add that it was a long boat ride back in the dark, but I guess that just goes to show how spoiled we are diving Cozumel. Compared to what you will find at a lot of places you could go, ALL boat rides off Cozumel are very short.

I agree w/ ggunn. I find twilight dives boring. The good stuff comes out at night on the 2nd dive. I try to avoid 2 tank night dives just for this reason.

I don't know why you would want a cattle boat for a night dive. All the negatives about cattle boats are multiplied on a night dive. Picture all the crowding on the boat and in the water you have on a day cattle boat. Now picture it 10 times worse because vis is zero except flashlights.

The only cattle boat dive I ever went on was a night dive. It was everything you described, and then some. By the time we finally got back to our hotel, it was too late to go into town to eat.

Never again, if I can possibly avoid it.
