Ambergris / San Pedro / Caulker Dive Ops for More Experienced Divers.

I dove with Elite Adventures Belize just last month. They did seem to cater to more experienced divers and locals. You do have to go with a DM and the max dive time is 45 minutes but they took us to lots of cool swim throughs and my max depth was 105' on one dive although most were at a max of around 80'. Picture is from my last dive where it was just me and the DM (gotta love low season).

Looks promising! Weekly Nitrox. Weekly gear rentals. 3 tank trips. Competitive prices. Have reached out.

So, there doesn't seem to be much on dive shops in San Pedro, Belize. I'll look into Scuba Daze and Elite Adventures Belize. I also read about Amigos (which I think is Amigos del Mar) on another thread. If anyone else has experience in San Pedro, I'd love to hear which shops you recommend. I'm not a SUPER experienced diver, but I also would rather not go with newbies or people from cruise ships... Thank you!

Scuba Steve - it is a family operation right by the ferry landing 501-627-7338 - first dives are to get familiar with you after that you can go up to your comport level. We have dove with them a bunch of times over the years

We stayed at Ramon's. They cater to newbies. You MUST stay with the DM, and the dives are 60 feet max and 40 minutes max. I was regularly surfacing with about 1,200 p.s.i.

The Blue Hole dive is NOT worth the long ride out there. The place is swamped with newbies who kick up the sand in the shallows. By the time you get down to 140-150 feet the visibility is extremely poor from all the sand filtering down. Total nightmare.

Yeah, we were not super-impressed with Ramon's, for many of the reasons you discuss. Also, the head guy on our boat was pretty dismissive/condescending to the female divers in our group. Not going back.
