Let me rephrase the question, since I just read whats there what time is slack tide on Sunday?

Not sure what exactly is in Shark River, but it's pretty popular shore dive spot. as far as surface swims, I still don't think it would be as long as we were on the surface at Dutch, plus it's warmer now, and the ocean in general is always a little warmer.

Belmar tides:

Long Branch (Dual Wrecks) tides:

I'm horrible at reading these things though, but I'll take a crack. Tables are based off Sandy Hook, the high is 9:06am on Sunday. Belmar high is -:35, so does that mean high slack at Belmar is 8:31am? When they say high on the table that does mean high slack, correct?

JMG, the entry point for the Dual Wrecks is still behind the retreat, you walk north on the beach to a path between two apartment buildings, there is a wall at the beach end to sit on and rest. The biggest problem is you need to have your gear set up, drop it on the curb on Ocean Ave. and find a parking spot. A wheelbarrow or dock cart would be nice. latitude adjustment

Looks like we could still do both afterall. My guess is that it would be best to dive at Shark River during slack tide and then possibly hit the dual wrecks afterward (if we're up for it). I'm not really sure what there is to see at Shark River, but at this point the fact that it has water is enough for me.

Chris, I think you are right about high tide being at 8:31. What do you guys think about being at Shark River ready to enter the water at around 8am?

Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it after all - a friend's coming from out of town on Saturday, and, well, getting up for an 8 am dive probably won't be an option. :) That, plus the fact that my drysuit won't be ready so I'd have to use a rental, means that I'm out.

I'm going to have some time off in mid-March and I'd love to do some diving. I'll start a thread closer to that date.

Have a good time, and make sure to post a report here. Lat. Adjustment, thanks for the clarification. If you guys make it out there, I'd love to hear about it - sounds very cool.

I think doing it the opposite sounds better. I've heard the current rips pretty hard through the inlet when it's going back out, and I'm not so sure I like the idea of being that far out in the ocean when the tides going back out either.

Maybe we do the wrecks at slack, then the back bay as Martin mentioned after, since the current won't be as much of an issue there.

We should probably meet pretty early, maybe around 7:00 that way we have plenty of time to survey the site and gear up, before the tide kicks in. Since we're coming from all different directions, and there are directions on NJ scuba, maybe it will be easiest for us to just meet at the site.

So who is officially in?
Me
FrankF
sylvester - you still in?
jonnythan - is that too far and or to early for you?
Martin is that foot healed yet?
I'm going to PM Xjae too.

We should decide on a final location tomorrow and PM cell #'s

That's a good point--the ebb would be taking us in the wrong direction! I'm fine with diving the wrecks first and then looking around in the back bay. I have no problems with a 7am meeting time either. If that's too early for the rest of the gang we could even hit that first and then meet eveyone else in Belmar.
