What's nice about Atomics, is that you can send directly back to the factory for servicing. As long as you don't run over it in you car or something like that, it's serviced free. You just pay shipping. And IMASWFAN is right. It always ranks at the top in testing. It is pricey! But you get what you pay, including an excellent warrentee. Check out http://www.scubadiving.com/ for some reviews.

I did a lot of research prior to buying a new reg and tried many out. That included talking with many of my friends that dive Atomics. Most of them are either dive masters or instructors and spend a lot of time in the water. All of them dive Atomics (except IMASWFAN. We're working on him... :)).

There are many good regs out there. I would suggest trying out as many as you can. And talk to the professionals in your area. Research, research...

I'll throw in my 2 psi
I love my Mares Proton Ice
Lightweight, easy breathing at 100+, supposedly won't freeze although you won't catch me anytime soon in that cold of water.

Got a great deal on it from Scubatoys
Never looked back and should last a good long time
They service it or almost any local shop can too

Be true to your school! Gotta Love that

I also have an IST Proline R20
Good reg, LDS says its an Oceanic and uses Oceanic Parts on it.
Breathes nice at 130FSW in all positions
Balanced Piston
$120
To Service, $25/Year at LDS
Beat that!

You can always get the SP MK25T (Titanium baby - yeah!) with the 600T regulator. Ya just gotta luv Titanium.

Except when I want more oxygen in my air... Then they're useless.

I've noticed that most people seem to be using MARES...my new NAUI video has all the instructors using MARES. (NAUI's used to be Aqualung/Scubapro fanatics! Was talking to a young pro commercial diver (newly arrived from South Africa!) two days ago...he uses MARES. He commented on Italian engineering...like Ferrari/Lamborghini. And the price is right, too!

Let's call a spade a spade here....Everybody recommends the regulator he bought (shelled out for...pun intended) Just like everyone thinks his/her car is the most beautiful thing on the road. And, of course, his/her ceritification agency is the best! (be true to your school...doodahdoodah!
Italian engineering? Ferraris and Lamborghinis are beautiful to look at, and when they work, they work VERY well, but BOTH spend WAY too much time in the shop to be called reliable.

And when I'm sucking compressed air out of hose at 110fsw, I want the word "reliable" to be synonymous with my regulator.

Just sayin'.

I'm not saying Mares regs are crap, I'm just thinking there MUST be a better analogy out there. :)

I don't know, sure sounded like you said they are crap... ;)

I'm going with the atomic B2 with an aqua lung reg. The B2 will cost me about $600

still looking for a better deal, someone help me out here. The B2 Atomic is my final choice you cannot change my mind unless you give me something for free!:D

I'm sure your Atomic reg will make you happy for many years to come. Enjoy it.

Is this really true? You can return your Atomics reg back to the Atomics factory and they will do an annual (biannual) service...that is parts and labor...for free for life?!? So ,in other words, you pay for the reg and except for shipping, you never have to pay another penny to maintain your Atomics reg for life...Atomics foots the bill?!!?

As a side note, I have both Apeks and Zeagle regs (both great reg companies). Like Apeks, contrary to what was posted by someone earlier, Zeagle ALSO has free service parts for life.

Yep. That was one of the selling points. Yes they are expensive, but one service will pay for it. BUT! You have to buy it from a autorized dealer. Atomic protects there dealers more-so than Scuba Pro. You can not buy them on-line, via phone, etc. You have to go into the shop. If you happen to find one on-line... the warrentee is void. You'll notice places like Leisure pro will have them listed all the time, but I've never seen them in stock. Atomics policy on this is very strict and can be a PITA, but they make a great product.

EZHOOPS... you won't regret your purchase.
