Hello fellow divers,

I am new to this forum. So I decided to drop a line to say hi.

I just passed my OW yesterday and waiting for my actual license card to arrive. Yippee!! :D I had a little difficulty for the 10 min water kicking test but I passed anyway.

With permission from my other half I'm looking forward to invest in a BC, reg and computer. I don't think I'll start cheap and bottom of the pack, repurchase is not much fun and I end up spending more money than buying right the first time. Any recommendations ? I'm sure it must have been discussed countless times here so I'll be grateful if someone can show me the link. I have some idea of the equipment I want to buy so please give me some comment on this one.

Seac sub Pro Tech
Apeks at 20 with octopus
Scubapro Mako pressure gage and compass
Uwatec aladin prime/tec computer

Look forward to see you in dive sites around the world.

welcome to the boards and congrats on getting certified. now all you have to do is rack them dives. make sure you rack 100 in your first month:) anyway im not gonna comment on the gear you listed but my advice would be to research, research and more research. plenty of good people to help you out here. dont get carried away your first time, spend and take the time to solicit peoples opnions and dont let someone talk you into buying a particular line of gear. good luck

Thanx for the advise but from where i live there's no renting of these particular items. All I can rent are rock bottom gears. No dive shops here have pools for me to test the equipment either. So i'll have to rely on opinions and reviews on magazines and forums like this one.

Good luck on your gear selections. Check our equipment forums for opinions...

Hello, nightcat !

Can You go to Shanghai in September?
There will be an exibition "China Dive Expo",
23-25 September 2005.

Welcome to the board. I could give you an idea of the equipment I use, but so could everyone else. There is a lot of good equipment out there. It is a matter of personal preference. Here is a link to help you in the right direction.

That's a good idea... thanx.

Maybe if you ask your buddies nicely they will let you play with their gear?

Thank you all for your advise. And oh yeah maybe I can to check out gears in Shanghai in September. Will definitely be bigger than any LDS I guess.
